ReplyDeleteHi Amal,
ReplyDeleteYou have a clear syllabus with sections that are appropriately labeled. Are you able to adjust the margins of your syllabus so that your entire grading scale appears on one page? Good idea to provide an explanation for each letter grade. In a way, this creates more accountability for your students.
I really like that you provide the Arabic alphabet and other helpful examples of the Arabic language, but are you able to provide audio recordings of basic Arabic phrases with the actual phrase in text format so that your students can read and listen to it at the same time? I think that this would create more support for your learners and make learning Arabic a little more attainable/easier. If you're able to do this, it would be a god idea to have the text become highlighted while the person/recording is speaking the text. This way your students will know what letters make what sounds etc. Keep up the good work.

thank you
ReplyDeleteesmeralda for your nice comment i really like yor idea about recording my voice and give text at the same time.

Hi Amal, I wanted to review our materials in more depth before I become your student. I hope the lesson you present includes the courtesy words hello, goodbye, please, thank you, and you are welcome. I am trying to learn those in as many languages as I can. If not, perhaps you will teach them to me individually. I am also looking forward to learning a little about your fascinating alphabet.
ReplyDeleteYour syllabus is very complete. I especially like the links you included for using Skype. May I have your permission to include them in my own student resource list? Will the session you teach to us be syncrhonous? If so, we need to coordinate the date with those of us who will be your students. If it is asynchronous that won't be necessary.
I looked at your first three lessons and admit I was lost. The letters in the words ran together. I couldn't tell them apart. Is that what English looked like to you when you were learning it? Which lesson are we doing for your discussion? I hope you will help us on Skype or I will fail. :(
You student population states they will be student who wish to learn Arabic. Will you have any heritage learners or Arabic speaking learners or will they all be completely new to Arabic? Just curious. I really like your .com Web site. It is very professional, clean looking, and easy to navigate.
In reviewing your work I notice you indicate you will respond to e-mails when you receive them. You may want to allow 24 to 48 hours for your response to avoid students sitting at their computers expecting a reply within minutes. Just a suggestion.
